S: for Solutions: Exercise is a remarkable tool to get you feeling great! First, it helps your mindset as you begin and go through your day. Then it helps your bones stay strong and healthy. If you walk or run in or exercise in your house the cost can be limited to owning your own exercise equipment or watching an exercise video. I priced out a treadmill, and arm and leg weights at local stores to meet my budget. I enjoy walking around the block in good weather, and using my exercise equipment also. Some women enjoy the vast equipment a gym has to offer. Exercise is key. Start a 5 minute program and increase it 5 minutes a day till you are exercising for 30 minutes to 60 minutes. Please try and exercise at least 3 times a week, you will notice the difference!
Y: for You: You know what is happening and you will create your own positive mind set!!!
M: for Mind Set: This is key to your health and happiness..if you feel cranky or mean-spirited, push yourself to think happy thoughts. Visualize a beach and the waves and yourself and a friend walking on the beach. Cut out a beach photo or serene photo from a magazine and carry it with you. Look at it when you need a happy mindset. I put a couple of serene photos in my home and do just that. I visualize waves at the ocean when I feel cranky if I am unable to take off to the ocean right then and there. Think about a nice vacation you have had or or planning. Your mindset if you think positive and happy thoughts is a big help to get you through these wacky menopause days!!
P: for Pamper, yourself a bit. Splurge on a new outfit or an evening out with friends, or plan a weekend trip for yourself. It doesn’t have to be far, go to an Inn that is an hour away, read, walk on the beach. Try the refreshing face tip I gave you on the previous page. If you forget what it was, simply, shower, take out 3 tablespoons of vanilla yogurt and lie down and apply to your entire face and forehead. Remove with warm water after 10 to 15 minutes. Watch your favorite video again and again. Sip on some tea to relax, my favorites are Peppermint tea and Licorice Spice, they really are relaxing!
T: for Talented, share your talents with others, invent a craft night at your house or a game night or a cookie swap or a book club or a sewing circle or teach a class, or take a class, share your talents with others and relax and grow. Or take a course at a local high school or community college and learn a new language or craft, learn to be talented! Go on, get some “me time” into your schedule.
O: for Outstanding: Okay ladies, you are doing an outstanding job putting up with the changes happening in your life now with menopause. Give yourself some applause!! Besides self help books, seeing your physician, or starting up a conversation with someone about menopause, it can be very challenging to seek advice on this subject. Two excellent publications that I have read are listed below. They will discuss many things you may not of thought of. First is What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About PreMenopause, Balance Your Hormones and Your life from Thirty to Fifty by John R. Lee, M.D., Jesse Hanley, M.D., and Virginia Hopkins. The other book I have read and found comfort in is the book titled What Your Doctor May Not Tell you about Menopause, The breakthrough Book on Natural Hormone Balance, also by John R. Lee, M.D. and Virginia Hopkins.
M: Magnificent: Go on, remind yourself how magnificent you are, it’s true! Think of what you have accomplished in all these years!!! Do you have a family that you are proud of? Do you have a work situation you are proud of? There are many things that contribute to who you are today. Continue with your magnificent mindset too!
S: Supportive Environment: Rule, number one through 101 is create a supportive environment for yourself. Share what you are going through with your loved ones, this helps when you are having a “menopause moment.” Or keep your symptoms to yourself, and have a healthy mindset, after all you have another fifty years to live, so “you go girl!!”
