Down in the Dumps – Ideas to stop sadness/moodiness
02/18/2008
Get out of here, down in the dumps mood!!!
If you are not wearing a cheerful out fit, or a bright colored outfit, change into on now!
Then, read the following to feel like a new person!
INVENT A PROJECT IF YOU CAN’T THINK OF ONE.
www.meetup.com has ideas also for projects and hobbies. Review this website after you read some ideas below, or just go right to www.meetup.com and combat your moodyness with a hobby.
Below are some ideas, but first, do some exercising.
If you don’t own equipment and don’t want to go and buy some or don’t want to spend money on a membership, then old fashion exercise will have to do.
Think of exercises to get your body going.
If you have stairs in your home, go up and down them ten times to get your heart moving. Do 5 sit ups and 5 jumping jacks. Then increase your exercising daily by 2 or more rotations till you are exercising form 30 minutes to one hour a day. Don’t over do it, you could loose water and really get sick if you over do exercising.
Maybe in time you will buy a bike you can ride or an exercise bike. Purchase a bike holder for the back of your car and ask a friend to go riding with you. Lots of sea shores have bike paths and there are clubs for novice and up bike riders.
Visit your library and take out a travel book or a movie on another country or state. This is fun, I do this sometimes, and I love going to Austria or Ireland or England in the movies. It hasn’t cost me a cent, and I’ve seen the country side from my couch. Of course if you can afford to really go, book it, and do it.
Return it and take out 2 romance novels.
The library is free, so why not take out a wok cooking dvd or video.
Take that cooking class you have longed for at your community education in your town or city or right at the library. The library has lots of things like this.
After this, the next time you are down in the dumps, you can visit your library physically, and look at all they have to offer. You could probably sit in a comfy chair and stay there most of the day exploring your free library.
If the library is closed when you want to visit it, then why not go on line and visit it. On line is open all the time. Check out your city/state and then look for the libraries you can go to there on line.
Okay, make some brownies, eat some chocolate cookie dough ice cream with chocolate syrup on it, but just keep busy to keep yourself from getting down. It works for me.
Visit a craft store and see what projects they can teach you to do. Or buy a self do it book.
Wow, you can paint, make birdhouses, crochet, knit, quilt, make gifts for friends while having fun.
There will probably be a bulletin board there that tells you when their classes are.
You could probably take a refresher course in cake decorating, or a new course in flower arranging, or a course in wreath making, or a course in stenciling on fabric and stenciling your home rooms.
Clean the back room or the porch out, go through old clothes you can donate to goodwill.
Take your camera with you and go in your back yard and take photos. You could take photos of people or animals or your garage or flowers. Develop them and make a collage.
Go on line and visit your community college website and see what they are offering. Make a note and take it next time if it is too late to register now. Go on line and read the free newspapers. Most newspapers have on line reading. Why not visit a far away land and read their newspaper. If you live in CT, visit Alaska, if you live in Michigan, visit Maine, if you live in Oregon, visit North Carolina, if you live in MA, visit Hawaii, go for it, it’s on line and it will be fun to do.
If have been putting off updating your holiday card list, why not just do it now?
In fact, I’m going to start on that one now. It is raining here and gloomy and so, I’ll take bubble bath, make some tea, light a chocolate chip candle and begin typing my dreaded holiday list over. After all it’s been 26 years, and I don’t want to keep looking at all those lines crossed out.
Being Down In the Dumps, it happens to us all, but YOU NEED TO CLIMB OUT, YOU NEED TO THINK POSITIVE AND CALL A FRIEND TO GO TO THE MOVIES OR GO CLOTHES SHOPPING WITH OR INVENT PROJECTS TO DO. MAYBE SOAK YOU FEET WHILE YOU ARE WATCHING AN OLD SAPPY MOVIE.
Sometimes you feel like a “social butterfly” and believe your pals must always feel like that, but I bet it’s not that way. We all have these down in the dumps feelings, but, please invent a project of read a book, take advantage of your free time and smile.
Contact your physician if your feelings of despair don’t go away in a half hour after making your self busy. You may have a serious depression disease. These ideas are to be evaluated by you, and not to replace what you and your physician decide is best for you.
