My husband did a ton of research and we purchased a Breville Juicer 4 days ago. It was $99.00.

I have felt wonderful for the last week with incorporating salad greens of all the right vitamin mix without the vitamins, remember the research I did on what foods have what vitamins? Then we added the vegies that my husband put in the juicer. These can go in whole, but do your clean up right away of it will be a mess to clean up. There were other versions of this juicer that appear to make clean up easier, but we didn’t want our investment to be too high in case we didn’t like the results soon into our project.

Anyways, my husband started looking up recipes on line for different juicer “cocktails”. So, we began each having one four ounce juiced drink with breakfast, lunch and supper. (Different styles through out the day is what we tried.) Yesterday, we started having eight ounce juicer drinks, all mixed vegies juiced with breakfast, lunch and supper. Well, last night I felt nausea coming on. I’m thinking I over did it with the juicer and the daily meals. I guess if having an eight ounce juicer drink, think of all the vegies you consume, so have a tiny tiny supper. I had 2 medium size fish portions and extra vegies, then the juiced drink. Now, even the next morning I feel sick. I know it was just me eating way too much. So, I learned my lesson. If you want to fix your diet, remember everything in moderation!

So, I am still happy with the results of the juicer idea instead of vitamins, but a word to the wise….always size up portion control before the first bite. I know need to “go back to the drawing board” and reorganize my juicing strategy so I don’t feel sick afterwards.

I have the exercising down, the great salads and juicer drinks, now I just need to really concentrate on portion control and I will be doing well.

It has been hard to find a juicer cookbook with how many grams of this and that equal this and that, so I think we over did it with all the vegies.

When I figure this stuff out, I’ll write it down so we all have a record.

Don’t do what I did, over consume, I need to find some will power still, but I’m getting there.

Okay, we all know the story, but are we actively taking care of ourselves?

Just with in the last month I have been going full steam to get healthy. I joined a gym for 12 days on a free pass, I use my exercise equipment

religiously now that I got in practice with the gym. This week, by husband added to our grocery list many of the 150 best foods to eat to strengthen and bones and support hormonal issues, so to avoid supplements.

You guessed it, I am reading another book, it is called “Stand Tall”, by Morris Notelovitz, MD, PhD. He refers to it as ”Every Woman’s Guide to Preventing and treating Osteoporosis”. Another great reference to congratulate you if you are taking you calcium supplements and Vitamin D and getting enough sunshine, and a great resource to let you know, please get moving immediately with exercise, calcium, vitamin d if you are not doing it now.

One of the pages shows a woman that is healthy with good bone support and then gradually, without any pain loosing height (I think that is what is happening to me) and then getting the hunch back. So, now I am on super duper overdrive trying to get in my exercise, and calcium, vitamin d etc.

The author suggests that if you take your calcium supplement in the morning sometime and then at bedtime, you get more of it through the day. You get most of it at bedtime, the absorption. So, now I will be making this switch tonight. Also, if you take your calcium with orange juice or yogurt you get more absorption. I have to cut up my supplement because only like really little pills, and the chewy calcium is not safe for my teeth, so I can now put it in yogurt at night.

If you want to really see if your know your bone loss prevention, this book is an easy read and oh so helpful.

Instead of taking vitamins to help with my menopause, I am going to try and eat right for one to two months and see if I feel alot better.

I got the book “The 150 Healthiest Foods on Earth” by Jonny Bowden and we are thinking about getting a juicer to juice fruits and vegetables.

We began eating healthier this week with all kinds of vegies that we never even heard of before.

The author explains the 150 best foods on earth then red stars the really really healthy ones.

For instance, onions can help build strong bones. He also claims that coconut is a super food. That’s from the coconut fruit itself.

You won’t be disappointed if you get a copy of this book.

Juicers are not blenders so don’t be confused. The cheapest juicer we found was $300.00 that appears to be a very good one. But they go up in price past $9,000.00. So, if you want to eat healthy and not take vitamins anymore, get your vitamins from foods. Maybe plant a garden and eat fresh vegetables or juice them.

My menopause symptoms were really bad last week, so a trip to the bookstore made these symptoms more tolerable. Look at your options!!

Do you ever experience eye glare when driving?

“The Menopause Book” by Pat Wingert and Barbara Kantrowitz, points out something to try. When driving and you experience eye glare from headlights from oncoming traffic, look down a little and to the right a little without taking your eyes off the road. This technique could minimize the eye glare. They suggest having a pillow to sit on also, so you are sitting up enough. I drive with a pillow, but may add another one on top if it now that I know this is proven technique. This book is excellent and down to earth. They suggest going for a vision test yearly, you may or may not have to get new glasses. They have tips for contact wearers check them out in this great book.

Chocolate is useful in Menopause, too. Semisweet and dark they explain is best, but you can read for yourself in their book. I highly recommend this publication. It is down to earth and easy to follow. It has a question and answer format.

It is by C.W. Randolph, Jr. M.D. and Genie James, M.M.Sc.

It reviews probably anything you have been experiencing and gives a list of vitamins to get and organic websites if you would rather get your vitamins from food. Also, it tells you about estrogen and how to combat extra estrogen. It is down to earth and very very informative.

Keep exercising and getting sunshine, take a look at this book if you want some great advice!

This book has helped me understand what I am going through in a common sense way.

Okay, the gym was a very very good experience! I met some friendly people on the last day.

Overall, jumping in my car at 7:30 a.m. to go to the gym for an hour or more in the freezing cold, was an eye opener to me for sure! I did it, and now I am happy to have this kind of structure and exercise in my life.

Before I left today, I chatted with some people who had memberships from 5 and 6 years ago. They told me that I needed to do repetitions of 12 things and rest a minute, then 12, rest, then 12. I didn’t know that I said. They said back 5 or 6 years ago, free trainers helped you till you got settled.

My only comment to this blog about this GYM, is if they have a lead, like me, on a free membership, then why don’t they enhance my knowledge with the machinery and teach me how to use it more thoroughly. That way I won’t want to leave.

But, that didn’t happen, and so I will make do at home with my exercise tapes, my treadmill, my leg and arm extensions. On my wish list I must put in for a hip abductor.

Keep moving and doing weights. It really boosts your energy, self esteem and helps your muscles and bones, take it from a person who never ever went to a gym before, and now wants to fit exercise into her lifestyle for good!
